Farnham Town were held to a 2-2 draw by Horndean in the Isthmian League South Central Division.
Town led twice thanks to goals from Jordan Stepney and Owen Dean, but ultimately had to settle for a share of the spoils in front of a crowd of 639 at The Memorial Ground.
Farnham were quick out of the blocks and nearly took the lead in the seventh minute when Liam Flanighan’s ball found Sam De St Croix, but his shot was saved by Horndean keeper Lloyd Thomas.
Harry Cooksley was next to go close for Town on 16 minutes when he cut inside from the left and forced Thomas to parry the ball away at his near post.
Farnham took the lead two minutes later when a ball into the box found Stepney, who took a touch before curling his finish into the left-hand corner of the net.
The Deans responded quickly to going behind and equalised five minutes later. A long ball over the top picked out Zack Willett, who cut the ball back for Kelvin Robinson to finish well.
The visitors nearly went ahead a minute later when another ball over the top found Willettt, and he cut the ball back to Tommy Scutt who fired an effort which hit the underside of the Farnham crossbar.
Town went back on the attack and nearly regained the lead in the 33rd minute when Mark Waters’ cross picked out Dean, but his header went over the bar.
Dean went close again nine minutes later when his shot was deflected just wide of the far post.
Farnham created one more chance before half-time. Cooksley’s inviting ball into the box picked out Ryan Kinnane, but his effort dribbled just wide.
Town continued to push after the break and went close to regaining the lead on 56 minutes when Stepney’s effort went just over the bar.
Farnham then won a penalty in the 64th minute when Dean drove into the box and was bundled over as he looked to shoot. Dean stepped up from the spot and confidently fired his penalty into the bottom right-hand corner of the net.
The visitors were back on level terms four minutes later when a ball down the right-hand channel found Willett, who cut inside before curling his finish into the far corner.
Farnham pushed for a winer but ultimately had to settle for a share of the spoils.
