Farnham Town chairman Harry Hugo has spoken of his delight after the club secured back-to-back promotions.
Town sealed the Isthmian League South Central Division title with a 6-0 win against Rayners Lane, 12 months after winning the Combined Counties Premier Division South title.
“Two years ago to think we would be going into Step 3 would have been completely unfathomable,” said Hugo.
“The boys have left everything out on the pitch all season – and last season.
“Last season was so special and to be able to recreate something as special 12 months later is great.
“Paul Johnson and Jimmy Hibburt have done an incredible job and put together an amazing, formidable, scary squad for everyone in this league and we have obliterated this league.
“There aren't enough superlatives to talk about how amazing this squad and this club is with everyone behind the scenes.
“When we talked in the summer we knew it would be a step up and knew the goal would be to compete up there.
“We didn't think we were going to win the league. We didn't think we were going to blitz it, that's for sure.
“We put everything in place in order to make sure we could be competitive.
“I'm staggered we're 21 points clear of the next best team.
“We have been so consistent – the boys have risen to the pressure.
“There is pressure when you play for Farnham Town because there are huge crowds and because of the external noise.
“People expect you to win every game. That's not realistic – it's not football – but we've done a very good job of nearly making it true.
“We'll remember these moments for the rest of our lives.
“Farnham football is on a trajectory that's going beyond what you could ever have imagined.
“That's thanks to the community and everyone that is around to keep pushing it forward and the boys on the pitch who make it happen.
“All of those guys are in perfect harmony and I'm just here to watch on and cheer. It's a sweet feeling.”
Hugo is already looking forward to the challenge of Step 3 football next season.
“It is exciting – it's a whole new world for Farnham Town,” he said.
“We've never been at Step 4 before and we've just blitzed it and won the league.
“Step 3 football is a massive step up. The expectation is not that we go and run that table but I'm excited to see what Step 3 football has to offer Farnham Town.”
